With fairly reasonable temperatures this is the winter to go sledding, skiing and all the other outdoor winter sports. I am a Mom and my sons and husband usually do the snow-blowing. I will make a path in the backyard for myself to go all the way to the back. My dogs like to go to the border of our yard to do their business so I have my doo container back there and my handy pooper scooper.  I pick it all up daily and with my work shoes on sometimes I need to have a path in order not to get my shoes soaked. I am luck enough to go home for my lunchtime and I let my dogs out then. My Shih Tzu's have little bladders and they are so happy to see me then. I have really enjoyed this winter with the tree branches laden with snow and all. I think everyone in blog-land knows someone in Wisconsin that personally has had car trouble or driven into a ditch this year. My husband is an excellent driver but he works out in Denmark and the roads in the country this winter are real slick. He did drive our truck into a ditch and had to be pulled out.  A lot of his co workers had the same fate. This is a good winter for parents of little sledders to make hot chocolate for your little troopers when they come in all rosy faced and soaking wet.  I remember those times at my Gram's home. We would all line up and climb aboard a huge toboggan. The hill seemed gigantic back then. I had my own sled with the steel runners  you could sit and steer with your feet. Going speedy down the hill and flying over a bump to land without crashing was our goal back then. We then would all go to Gram's as her home was real close to the hill. My Gram always had hot cocoa on the stove ,the real homemade kind! I would be all excited and happy. My Gram would usually be pulling hot muffins out or freshly baked cookies. It was fantastic.

I like the city and this state but our city streets are horrible.  Did any one else notice all the potholes and bumps? I am sad to see the main streets of the city in such bad shape. We pay more taxes in this city than anywhere else and yet the city crews are overwhelmed with three inches of snow.  They say they are overworked and running out of salt and sand. Our side streets are glare ice now with layers of ruts and slippery spots. The mayor is busy running around in a store with a shopping cart. I don't know what the city aldermen talk about downtown but maybe their heads got bumped so much they just sit there and try  to unrattle their brains. We have paid our taxes another year so they got our money and its time for them to spend it.  Could they fix a whole road and not all this little patch here and little patch there business that takes them all summer to do. If they need workers do what Lambeau Field does and pay them eight bucks an hour. You would get easily three hundred workers to fix the roads in a week!

more soon: got to go salt my sidewalk.

Ok, John sorry you did not appeal to all of us this time around. Was it because your wife is ill and you should be there for her? Maybe some thought this way as you did not get any electoral votes. What is with Ted Kennedy endorsing Obama? Does it really matter that the two Kennedy's in the news are saying they want him? Ted is overweight and old and probably should be resigned and I don't even know what he is famous for except his namesake. Also they probably have Kennedy tourist shops and the owners are keeping him in office. I am not sure who to vote for as the rest of America is proving. The votes are going back and forth for each of the two top runners on each side. One comment I heard from Mitt Romney was he said something along the lines of not wanting Bill Clinton standing around in the White House with nothing to do. Does it also mean he thinks the First Lady  stands around and does nothing?  Barbara,Hillary and Laura all are women in my life that I remember as doing alot for this country. Would he be too chauvinistic as a President?  Where the next state for the candidates to conquer is I have no clue so I guess I will have to watch the news and find out but the media sure doesn't have a clue as to who we want yet so don't listen because the people are doing what we want for a change.

I am a parent and two of my boys go to high school. I am glad they got to stay home from school as when I went out this morning to let my little Shih Tzu's go; they were freezing fast!  I shoveled to my car and the back steps. The dogs hop around with one leg up in the air when they get cold. Sometimes I will carry them in. I was glad when they were done and we went back inside. My youngest son fell on our back steps yesterday and he had his heavy backpack on so it made the fall worse. He hit two steps with his tailbone real fast. He called me as I was already at work and I could tell from his voice he was in pain. I told him to put an ice pack on it and rest. I called the school and checked on him all morning till I went home for lunch. He was still in alot of pain. I made an appointment for later on today. I  don't think its broke but I don't know how he is going to go to school and sit and then go up and down stairs. My son is a big boy already taller than me and my husband.  I heard that it will not be above 2 today and the winds make it feel like thirty six below right now. My older son works for Time Warner Cable. They gave him carharts to wear and alot of cold weather clothing so I know he will be ok.

more soon: off to get a hot cup of chocolate.

I am 43 and love my family. I have 4 great sons and 3 dogs and 2 cats. Two little Shih Tzu's named Cissy and Minnie are my heart stealers, they make me do anything for them and I adore them the most.
