With another presidential election upon us, we hear promises about how they are going to make changes. President after president come and go yet we still are in the same mess has before. There is one constant variable through all of this that nobody talks about and that has basically never changed. That is the congress. If we truly want change we need to have a clean sweep of our congress. Will instantly get the rest of the world to like us again no. But maybe the few congress persons in office may pull their heads out of their backsides and do things for everyone. In school I just learned about these think tanks that do more of the law writing than our congress persons should be doing. If we want change we also need to change and that is in how we elected our Senators and Representatives.
 Just recently I heard that a special interest group was able to get our politicians to change how information was taken in regards to their cause. This proves that this organization was not correct with their stats with real information. There was a phrase coined by who I am not sure with Chicago politicians that Chicago has the best politicians money can buy. With the government changing the rules on information collection so it can prove someone else's stats, our country at state and federal level has the best politicians money can buy!

Economic manufacture clustering which oil refineries do. Manufacture clustering is many manufacturing companies of the same thing, all in the same area for supposedly cutting cost of manufacturing these items. In many cases this proves to be quite true. With resent hurricanes of Katrinia and now Ike, But for such a product that truly runs this country in area that is so prone to violate weather, I do not understand why these companies continue to rebuild there. Since they will need to rebuild some of these refineries again they need to think about places that are not so likely to be hit by a natural disaster on a yearly basis.

With the resent traggic accident involving a drunk driver that killed two young adults. The media hype states that it is because of a intoxicated driver. I would like to know what kind and the severity of injuries these two young women would have received following these two other situations. What would have happened if the intoxicated driver would have been driving the speed limit of 30mph when she hit them? What would have happened to the two young women if the woman that hit them would have been sober and traveling at the same speed which was 80--90mph? Everybody thinks that this problem can be solved with one simple solution when it is not a simple problem!

So who is at fault for the high oil and gas prices? Is it OPEC, oil companies, government? How about all of us, OPEC, oil companies, government, commodities investors (chicken littles), car manufactures and us the consumers. We the consumers that waste gas for no reason, driving several miles in a gas guzzler to get a pack of cigarette. Oil companies not up dating and building new refineries on old sites that were damaged in fires. The government for not doing anything till it's to late to look for different ways not to become more dependent on foreign oil. The chicken littles (commodities investors) that buy up all the oil as to make it scarce and driving up the prices of crude oil. Car Mfg. not doing enough to raise the MPG's on cars and trucks. They state that it is impossible, but a show on the discovery channel shows a race car that averaged 114 mpg at and average speed of 144 mph. This of course is not quite going to happen in a passenger car but it should get around 50 mpg. OPEC could be doing more to better research more areas for oil across the world as the population rises it will be needed to make things work.
 We will need to just find away to scare the chicken littles into selling and it should get the prices to fall.
 We need to find better ways to get around w/o using gas it is different in a city than in the country and I mean farm country not a suburb.
 More synthetic oils and fuels when ever possible , but is it already to late?

I still hear that the switching to HDTV is a conspiracy. Is such a reluctance for change from so many people the cause of our countries state of being? There was a story on the news about a  new type of internet tech. that should blow the fastest DSL out of the water, there are so many areas now that can not get DSL, because the companies say they can afford it. When the rest of the world leap frogs to the news tech we will again fall further behind the world and become outdated losing more jobs and credibility.  So many companies fall behind in technology than state that they can not afford to update. Being of penny wise and dollar foolish. Airline companies not keeping air planes well maintained now have to come up with far more money than if they just would have fixed right in the first place. If people refuse to accept change for something like HDTV, something that should have been done about 15 years ago, Europe has had it about that long, what will these people be will accept for change in the over need for our lives?

Highway workers getting hurt while on the roadway, from people driving too fast through construction zones is a cause from the snowball effect. People for far too long have been able to drive with their heads up the backsides with their foot buried in the accelerator. Since for many years the media and the police were only concerned about DUI's many of the other laws have been basically ignored, except for when these P.R. stories. This can proven by counting the number of times someone does something you don't like while driving. It is more tha likely a law being broken. And with a little mathematics and going to the DOT web site you can calculate what percentage of times the law was enforced. The best way to stop these highway injuries is to enforce the laws on a greater frequency not just during P.R. periods.

It is just as true that not everyone should own a gun as everyone should not be allowed to own guns. With the school shootings so many people feel that all guns should be taken off the streets, but when these things happen they want greater security. So many people want more police and security personal to be put on campus. Is it just truly the number of forces on campus that may deter shooter or the fact that all of these security personal are carrying weapons. But can we afford to hire more police to be paid by our taxes that are already over taxed. People that carry weapons need to be properly trained and background checked.
Do these people know that they are double talking when they don't want guns on campus but want many security personal with guns on campus.

Since there was no need for 30%-50% of the houses built. The only ones that felt a need was local government and developers. Developers built new houses on farm land that need an entire system infrastructure. That is Water, sewer, roadways, and everything else that is in cities. The developers could not have built without the cities building permits. The federal government will raise and lower the prime interest rates to help with the economy if they see something coming, the local government should have seen this coming and slowed down on issuing building permits.
