Little Known Heros of the Revolution
The Boston Massacre
March 5th 1770. The Boston Massacre....Crispus Attucks was not only the First American Martyr of the Revolution, he was also the Organizer and leader of the Crowd that confronted the British Soldiers at Boston that day. He was also the Formost in Resisting the British Soldiers and as a result the First one Killed.
In 1851 there was a Petition presented to the Massachusetts Legislature for the appropriation of Funds to build a Monument to the First American Martyr of the Revolution, Crispus Attucks. The Petition was denied.
On the 5th of March, 1776, Washington repaired to the intrenchments. "Remember," said he, "it is the 5th of March, and avenge the death of your brethren!"
The Battle of Bunker Hill
June 17th 1775, The Battle of Bunker Hill. Patriots after surronding the City of Boston, took up postions on the Charlestown Peninsula on top of Bunker Hill and Breed's Hill North of town across the Bay. During this battle between 1,500 American Patriots and 2,400 British Soliders took part. While the British did take both Hills they suffered Heavy losses. British casualties were about 1,150 killed and wounded, while the Patriots suffered 450 Killed and wounded.
But out of those who died 2 famous People were Killed in the Fighting. A Patriot named General Warren and a British Major of Marines Pitcarin. The Little known Hero is the Man who Killed Major Pitcarin was named Henry Hill. After the Battle he was was presented to General Washington for his heroic Fighting and the killing of the Major. In Pictures made of the Battle he was at First a Prominent Figure, but over time he has been forgotten and ingloriously left out.
Henry Hill also fought in the battles of Lexington, Brandywine, Monmouth, Princeton, and Yorktown. He died in Chilicothe, on the 12th of August, 1833, aged eighty years. He was buried with the honors of war and eventually forgotten to History.
Dorchester Heights
On March 4th, 1776 Boston. Washington received 59 Cannon from the Captured British fort of Ticondaroga. Overnight the Patriots Constructed Fortifications and installed the Cannon on the Heights overlooking British occupied Boston. This move eventually led to the British evacutaion of Boston on March 17th, 1776. March 17 is celebrated as Evacuation Day in some Massachusetts communities.
But one Little known Hero is James Easton. James Easton, of Bridgewater, was one who participated in the erection of the fortifications on Dorchester Heights, under command of Washington. His talents were invaluable in the Construciton of the fortifications.
Mr. Easton was a manufacturing blacksmith, and his forge and nail factory, where were he also made edge tools and anchors, was extensively known, for its superiority of workmanship. Much of the iron work for the Tremont Theatre and Boston Marine Railway was executed under his supervision. Mr. Easton was self-educated. When a young man, stipulating for work, he always provided for chances of evening study. He was welcome to the business circles of Boston as a man of strict integrity, and the many who resorted to him for advice in complicated matters styled him "the Lawyer." His sons, Caleb, Joshua, Sylvanus, and Hosea, inherited his mechanical genius and mental ability.
Crossing of the Delaware
December 25th, 1776 Trenton. In a daring tactic, General Washington in the Dead of Winter decide to attack the town of Trenton. In the middle of the night and during a snow storm the Patriots crossed the Delaware River and then attacked the Hessian Mercenaries and British Troops occuping the Town. It was an absolute and complete Victory.
A Little known Hero was Oliver Cromwell. He enlisted in company commanded by Capt. Lowery, attached to the Second New Jersey Regiment, under the command of Col. Israel Shreve. He was at the battles of Trenton, Princeton, Brandywine, Monmouth, and Yorktown. Cromwell was brought up a farmer, having served his time with Thomas Hutchins, Esq., his maternal uncle. He was, for six years and nine months, under the immediate command of Washington, whom he loved affectionately. "His discharge "at the close of the war, was in Washington's own hand-writing, of which he was very proud, often speaking of it. He received, annually, ninety-six dollars pension. He lived a long and honorable life. He lost three sons and three daughters; had fourteen children who reached the age of maturity--seven sons and seven daughters. He saw his grand-children to the third generation. He was a man of strong natural powers--never chewed tobacco nor drank a glass of ardent spirit. He died, in the town of his birth, January 24th, 1853.
There is another little known Hero at the Crossing. Prince Whipple was a Body Guard to General Whipple of New Hampshire, who was an Aid to General Washington. In the Engraving done of the Night of December 25th 1776, Prince Whipple can be seen Proudly riding Horseback, next to General Washington and General Whipple. More Modern Artist's failed to add him to other renditions of that Glorious Night.
Prince was beloved by all who knew him. He was the "Caleb Quotem" of Portsmouth, where, he died at the age of thirty-two, leaving a widow and children.
The Spy of Lafayette
One Little known hero is James Armistead Lafayette. James was a man who Volunteered his service to General Lafayette of the Continential Army. So impressed with this Man General Lafayette asked him to be a Spy. Upon agreeing to this task, he was able to get himself employed by the British General Cornwallis. Cornwallis was also so impressed by him that he in turn, asked him to spy for the British Army. So James Armistead started Feeding the British false information till the Surrender of General Cornwallis. So perfect was the Acting of James that not until Cornwallis met James in the Headquarters tent of General Lafayette, did his true identity and mission become known to him. James was so fond of General Lafayette that he took his last name as a sign of his loyalty and appreciation. The Service provided by James and the success of his mission was immeasurable to the success over Cornwallis.
Americans All..
What some of you may have already figured out is that not only are these American Heros. But they are American Heros that happen to be African American. The reason for not including this earlier, is because it matters little what the Color of their skin was. All that matters is that they are Heros, American Heros that fought for not only Our Liberty and Freedom, but their Liberty and the Freedom of Future Generations.
The Continential Army was so integrated by the end of the Revolutionary War, 1/4th of it was made up of African Americans. The United States would not see this kind of integration again for another 200 years.
These are not all of the Hero's of the American Revolution, there are many more of many different Races and Sexes. But the Fact that they Fought and many died for all of us.....is what matters.

Saturday Night’s Political Forum hosted by Pastor Rick Warren was one of the most interesting campaign events this year. It was nice to hear someone from the right argue that it is essential that Americans (both conservative & liberal) learn to argue their viewpoints WITHOUT demonizing the other side. In coming to terms with the idea that we are all Americans (even when we disagree) we build upon the idea that we are greater as a nation together than we are as the sum of our separate ideologies.
I was impressed with how quickly Sen. McCain answered. He was direct and to the point. “On Message” as they say. When others suspected that he knew the answers in advance, I doubted it. I simply saw it as someone who has practiced turning every question to a preset campaign talking point. It’s an old debate trick and Sen. McCain seems very good at it. (Case in point: when asked by a reporter on the campaign trail to defend his love of the musical group ABBA, Sen. McCain explained that his musical development was interrupted by his five years in a POW camp.) Any and all questions leads back to either:
1) The Surge Worked
2) Drill now and drill everywhere
3) I was a POW
4) Life begins at conception
Senator Obama gave much more nuanced answers. He frequently fumbled for the right way to express himself. This was seen by many as a sign of his inexperience and unsuitability for the job and I don’t agree with that assessment. Keep in mind that this was not particularly friendly territory for him and ANY misstatement would have been instantly jumped on by the McCain campaign, news anchors and the evangelicals. One could hardly blame him for weighing every word.
There are two kinds of people in the world, those who see everything in terms of black & white and those who see the world as more complicated and filled with shades of gray. Sen. McCain sees clear cut answers to all problems. Senator Obama does not. The question of “when does life begin” is an excellent example of the differences. Senator McCain responded, “Life begins at conception”. That’s an answer short and sweet enough to appear on a bumper sticker. Many people (and most of the audience) agree with this viewpoint. Obama didn’t answer the question directly. He replied that if you are pro-life, you won’t agree with any definition but the one that McCain would eventually offer to the crowd. Sen. Obam realizes that an equal number of people disagree with that definition as agree with it. So Senator Obama’s discussion centered on finding a middle ground that both sides could come to terms with….work together to reduce the number of abortions.
Who’s right & who’s wrong? Let’s look at a couple of hypothetical examples:
“Jane” is a 17 year old high school senior who discovers she is 6 weeks pregnant seven months before her senior prom….she decides to have an abortion. It’s her second one. It’s her choice but most pro-choice people I know would be disgusted with her actions.
“Jill” is a 30 year old stay at home mother of two who discovers she is six weeks pregnant three weeks after her husband is killed in an accident. He had no insurance and she has no job. She is told her unborn child will be born with a chronic illness that will require extensive care for the life of the child. She is also told that in giving birth she stands a good risk of not surviving the pregnancy herself. Does she risk her life (as the single mother of two other children) to bear a child she cannot afford to raise and will never be adopted because of the chronic health problems? Under pro-life beliefs, she has no choice.
This is the reason why I don’t like “bumper sticker” issues. Most things in life are too complex to boil down to simple answers. And Senator Obama seems to recognize that. I don’t mind that his most profound ideas come from pre-written speeches. I like the fact that he thinks about all aspects of a problem before speaking out. If he isn’t as good with an off the cuff comment…I can live with that if the reasoned conclusion is the RIGHT answer.
Senator McCain showed a strong willingness on Saturday night to attack evil! But what does that really mean and where does his commitment end? Tiananmen Square in China in the 80’s was EVIL! How should we have confronted it? Invade Beijing? What about Darfur? What about ….name your troubled nation of choice! A willingness to interfere in other countries sounds great from the campaign platform, but the reality is that there is much more evil in the world than we can effectively combat as a single nation.
John McCain’s entire history in Washington has been highlighted by a strong belief in American intervention to right the wrongs of the world. During the 80’s, John McCain was a strong supporter of another war. He supported the Contra Army in Nicaragua. Remember them? They were the Nicaraguan rebels funded by Ronald Reagan during his administration. (Interestingly enough the money for the Contras was supplied by the US covertly selling weapons to IRAN! Try explaining that on a bumper sticker.)
In 2001, McCain told CNN within a month of 9/11 that we should attack Iraq because of 9/11! ($658 BILLION dollars later we see how that is working out.) Even the Bush administration now admits that Al Qaida was not in Iraq (pre-9/11) and that Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. But John McCain wanted to “hit back” at someone. Unfortunately, taking time to be sure he had picked the right target to hit didn’t occur to him in 2001 as a Senator. The big question is would a PRESIDENT McCain use any more judgment and wisdom in picking targets than Senator McCain has? I would hope that America has seen the problems with “cowboy diplomacy” but Senator McCain insists that “there will be more wars”. I realize that he is right on that, but I hope that they are the RIGHT wars and that his Presidential war picks show more wisdom than his past record suggests. Because it’s our children and grandchildren that will fight and bleed for the future wars of a President McCain.
All the media talking heads looked at who won and who lost Saturday night at Saddleback. And in doing so they missed the whole point. I appreciated the opportunity to see both candidates answering the same questions. We did get the opportunity to compare “apples to apples”. And it served to remind me, that the presidency is not a game of “gotcha”, with the person scoring the lowest gotcha number winning the prize. An election should focus on how the candidate comes to a conclusion on what is the best course for our nation to take. It’s not necessarily how you say it or the “experience” you say it with…it’s the wisdom of what you’re saying that counts.
Why Fight for Liberty? Why take time out of Your Life to raise Your Voice against Tyranny? What reason is worth all the Time and Effort and if necessary, Blood to Stand in the Defense of Liberty?
Is it to rid ourselves of these Dishonest Politicians? No, for that is no Reason to stain the Land with Blood.....I Dislike these Wolves in Sheep's Clothing as much as anyone..but that alone is not worth war...
Is it to rid ourselves of Tyrannical Taxation? No...it is for something more substantial than our precious wallets....
What is it that a Man or Woman must Stand for Liberty, be it in Peaceful Protest or with Arms?
Is it for Our Rights? Our Rights that are Guaranteed in the Constitution?....Yes, but to stop there would be a Grave Injustice.
We must fight for the Liberty of All Mankind. For the Women,Children and Men who for themselves have no Voice.....Who can not Stand for themselves because their suffering is greater than Ours. For those that Oppose us and their Future Generations. So that there shall be No More Tyranny, at Home or Abroad. That a Few Tyrannical Men Can Not, Must Not, Dictate to Millions. So that wherever the Wind Blows or the Sun Shines People will have a say in who rules over them and by what laws they live. We Must Fight for the Rights given to us by Nature's God, for those Rights are Given to All, be them Friend or Foe. From the Poorest Drunk to the Wealthiest Businessman has the Right to Liberty......For this we Must Fight, For this we are Obligated to Fight....
We as the Nation of Freedom and Liberty have an Obligation to Ourselves, Our Children and to the World to Shine the Light of Liberty to All the Ends of the Earth....
THIS is what Our Founding Fathers Fought For........
For This Reason.....Liberty Must Survive...No Matter the Cost...
We Must Stand upon Our Rights, Not Upon the Force Of Arms........
But Let it Be known we Will Fight...with Words Peaceably...with Arms If Necessary...

What a head shakingly sad story about John Edwards who admits he became drunk with attention and had an affair even as his wife battled incurable cancer. This is the same politician who shook his finger at Bill Clinton and condemned him for his actions while in the White House. This is the same policitician whose primary appeal was his devotion to his family and his purported morality.
We see this happen time and time again. Not only to politicians, but to men of God, CEO's, low level managers in huge corporations. It's almost as if the human being can't withstand the influence of having power: any kind of power... no matter how insignificant, or no matter how great. Is it the society we live in....are we, as a society, without a moral compass in this day and age? What has happened to us, to our civility, our credibility, our inherent moral beliefs? Some of the more pious among us would lay it all at the feet of those who don't go to church, or preach their belief often or loud enough. I don't feel that's the answer as it seems the clergy is just as guilty of moral turpitude as the unwashed masses. Some people lay it at the feet of the media who seems to sensationalize sex, glamor, relationships and instant gratification.
People get divorced at the drop of a hat and don't even bother to remain together and struggle through issues together. They want the instant gratification that is flashed in front of them all the time and go forth in their quest for personal happiness as they allow their marriage and children to fend for themselves as they pursue the holy grail of 'happiness'.
CEO's drain their companies of assets and profits and then claim ignorance of accounting practices as they jingle the keys to their multiple homes in their pockets. Volunteers drain the funds of local soccer clubs or youth groups and blame it all on some type of addiction of one sort or another.
Have we, as a society, allowed the lessons of 'consequences based on actions' to totally escape us? Has the government interfered too much and made business responsible for our own carelessness and moments of utter stupidity? Why else would there be a warning on your steam iron about 'Caution! Do not wear clothing while ironing as it may cause serious burns.' Whatever happened to personal responsibility? Have the defense lawyers created too many Twinkie Defenses that have allowed us to shrug off responsibility for our actions and blame it on something else rather than ourselves?
I admire John Edwards for taking responsibility for his extramarital affair. I do not admire his attempts to lie his way out of it, however I do understand it. There used to be a time when we could claim integrity, responsibility and character strength as personal attributes of internal and spiritual strength, but those words are seldom heard this day and age.
The more powerful we become, the weaker we become as an individual, and less willing to accept responsibility for our own actions. Our moral compass becomes clouded with potential instant gratification and the knowledge that no matter what we do, someone will agree it really wasn't our fault and that everything will be okay. I don't know how to bring it back. I don't know how to stop it. But I do know that it deeply bothers me.
If it's not Good for our Kids, then Why is it good for our Country?
Why do we Teach our kids that in order to succeed they need to be Self-Sufficient?
Why do we teach them how to be Independent and then vote for Politicians or Laws that take Independence away?
If we know that it's not a Formula for Success to keep Bailing our Kids out every time they screw up, then why do we encourage our Government to do so?
Why do we tell them they need to learn to do it themselves but then we turn to the Government to do things for us?
Why do we Believe in Tough Love for our Children...because we Love them..but then we bend like wet paper to the Will of Big Government?
Why do we not want our Kids to live at home when they are 40 but want the Government to "take care' of them for the rest of their lives?
Are we Good Parents and Lousy Citizens or Lousy Parents but Good Citizens?
If we want Success, Independence and Happiness for our Kids.....
Then why do we keep Encouraging Failure, Dependency and Misery in the Direction of our Government?
Do We Not Love Our Country As Much As We Love Our Children?
I Hope So......

Dear Mr. Obama:
I would like to start off by stating upfront that there is absolutely no way on God's green earth I am voting for you this November. Ok, now that we have that out the way, I would like to commend you on your proposed, 'Tax Rebate Stimulous'. I should actually say the 'Let's Rape and Pillage the Oil Companies Profits Rebate' What a tremendous idea you have come up with. I cannot think of anything more hopeful and worthy of real change than to destroy an American company. I must hand it to you Mr. Barack Hussein Obama, you have outdone yourself here, at no time in recent history can I think of a politician wanting to take legitimate profits from legitimate companies...................wait, strike that, I must be thinking poorly here, I almost forgot what we did to the tobacco companies. By the way, where did all that money go anyhow? Do we still not have, what is it, 40 million Americans without health coverage? If I am not mistaken, I believe this same 'tactic' was used on pharmacuetical companies too? But I digress; I have thought this idea of yours out long and hard and I am going to make a proposal to like-minded educated Americans who can see the big picture. When and if Mr. Barack Hussein Obama is elected, and this proposal comes up for a vote, which by the way it will because Nancy Pelosi is of the same mindset as Mr. Barack Hussein Obama, and we poor, underprivilaged, deprived, Americans should get together with members of our immediate families, and reinvest that amount of money back into the oil companies stock. So, for instance, my wife and I, my sisters and their husbands, and my mother, pool together our $3000 and buy as much oil company stock as we can. Why you ask would we do that with the money? Good question, and I have the exact answer for you. Because one day, the people of this country will vote politicians into office who will see through these travesties and award the oil companies huge tax breaks, drilling contracts, and watch the profits soar then. You think 40 billion in profits is large, wait until we pull our heads out of our back-sides and see what we have done is unfair and frankly, unjust to private, legit companies, who by the way, are already paying outrageous amounts in taxes. So, again, thanks again Mr. barack Hussein Obama or can I call you Mr. Barack Hussein Obama Hood? 'He steals from the rich and gives to the poor' So, to conclude, good Luck in November, I am certain you will give Mr. John McCain a good run, but with such fresh, innovative ideas spewing from your campaign, I can't undertand why anyone wouldn't vote for you...............time will tell I guess.

Watching and listening to John McCain on the campaign trail, shadows that of a doddering old fool that is out of touch with a world. With his comments on the war, economy, healthcare and fuel prices, raises the question; “Which America does he live in, the America of the powerful and privileged, or the America that the rest of us live in?” He admits he doesn’t know anything about the economy, you know the very thing that collapsed the Soviet Union. He has no personal experience regarding healthcare, as tax dollars has been paying for his healthcare since the day he was born in a naval hospital. His only real calm is his military experience is Vietnam. It wasn’t his military superiority that elected him Senator, but the pity of being a POW.
Fear of terrorism is what re-elected George Bush, and John McCain is “Capitalizing” on the same fear to elect him. Can America survive 8 more years of foreign / corporate lobbying and the fleecing of the American people? I don’t think so. We need a president that protects America’s interest first, and the rest of the world’s investment into corporate America second. Allowing internal and external markets to take over our sovereign nation is the same as opening our doors to the enemy.
I was arrested and convitcted for child abuse...i was with a woman and her 2 kids for 2 years. i always had permission to spank them when she was away and i was in charge. at the end of the relationship she decided she wanted to persue other interests..in which i wasnt wanting that....she got the cops involved and i was charged with child abuse for spanking her daughter.....heres the deal i should of been sent to prision, but only got 2 yrs probation.....now the only reason i was charged was becaus ei wasnt married to the mother.......i want to know how the general public respondes to this. i feel its unfair i was convicted of a felony and am no longer allowed to ever deer hunt again! hunting was a very important thing in my family for generations and generations to come....
I am now remarried and have 3 step kids and a son of my own and all is very well.....but i think that the government should change the laws governing child abuse to allow for live in s.o's to be allow to discipline children......WHAT DO YOU THINK?
The Government is Growing at an enormous rate, much larger than the Founding Fathers ever intended. Individual Liberties and Freedoms have been under repeated attacks from the very Government sworn to protect them. The politicians in Office appear to only take turns playing "King" in the White House while Ignoring the Outcries of their Bosses, we Citizens.
Is it time to Elect Delegations from the States to Discuss how to Return this Great Country to the Path of the Constitution?
So that this Great Nation of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.
Ranked low among industrialized nations in healthcare quality and highest in cost, United States needs a cure for stupidity. President Roosevelt said years ago, "The only thing to fear is fear itself." The spineless Republicans seem unable to face fear when it comes to change. More and more Americans and business are finding healthcare unaffordable and unattainable. I hear people say it's a non-partisan issue. Yet Republicans offer no substantial fixes for the healthcare problem. Democrats keep fighting hard to get us closer to the national healthcare coverage. People studying the problem see this as the only fix to control costs, cut out duplicated or repetative administrative practices and price gouging. Part of the reason jobs leave our country, is business has to compete with countries with national healthcare. As the economy continues to tank, more and more Americans will continue to become unemployed then uninsured. As Democrats continue to fight for what's best for America, should the unpatriotic Republicans be left out of National Healthcare? I doubt that could be possible. Like in the case of Social Security you will find a selfish self-absorbed Republican scraping to be first in line to receive it.
When it comes to Police, Fireman, Social Security, and Medicare, govenment run is a great thing! It's time for national healhcare. The fix seems so easy, but a mountian of fear seems to block the sunset of success. Come on, it's time to git-r-done!

I’m sure child molesters don’t like to be compared to a Washington lobbyist, but who cares what they think? The fact is, John McCain has 100 lobbyists running his campaign.
As the American people battle high unemployment, high gas prices, a collapsed housing market, and a U.S. dollar that is sinking lower than whale poop, John McCain has clearly shown who he is loyalty to. Didn’t we learn anything from Bush’s cabinet of Enron executives where he was taking this country. Where is McCain going to lead us with 100 lobbyists?
