Ranked low among industrialized nations in healthcare quality and highest in cost, United States needs a cure for stupidity. President Roosevelt said years ago, "The only thing to fear is fear itself." The spineless Republicans seem unable to face fear when it comes to change. More and more Americans and business are finding healthcare unaffordable and unattainable. I hear people say it's a non-partisan issue. Yet Republicans offer no substantial fixes for the healthcare problem. Democrats keep fighting hard to get us closer to the national healthcare coverage. People studying the problem see this as the only fix to control costs, cut out duplicated or repetative administrative practices and price gouging. Part of the reason jobs leave our country, is business has to compete with countries with national healthcare. As the economy continues to tank, more and more Americans will continue to become unemployed then uninsured. As Democrats continue to fight for what's best for America, should the unpatriotic Republicans be left out of National Healthcare? I doubt that could be possible. Like in the case of Social Security you will find a selfish self-absorbed Republican scraping to be first in line to receive it.
When it comes to Police, Fireman, Social Security, and Medicare, govenment run is a great thing! It's time for national healhcare. The fix seems so easy, but a mountian of fear seems to block the sunset of success. Come on, it's time to git-r-done!

McGovern is in the news, telling Hillary to quit. Of all persons to be telling someone to quit, Mc Govern should be the last to give this advice! The amazing thing about this Presidential Primary this year is that it is an all most 50 / 50 split among the Party faithfuls. Hillary"s supporters are counting on her to exhaust every possibility of winning the election before conceding. I donated money to her campaign and would be very disappointed if she quit early! The fact that Republicans have been crossing over in record numbers in the majority of the early primary wins (Inc. Wisconsin) so that Hillary did not get to run against McSame, super delegates had better not endorse the Republican pick.
The Republican party ran a commercial in North Carolina, that is just the edge of the iceberg! It refered to Rev. Wright's "God damn America sermon" and Obama's patriotism is questioned. Couple that with Obama's picture circulating the net with everyone else with their had over their hearts except him at a pledge of alliegence , it really smells of trouble to come.
Republican elected officials watched as Hillary campaigned in Florida 2 years before announcing her presidential bid. They knew they were wrecking her chances to win by moving the primary forward in their state. The Democrats tried to stop them, but they were outnumbered in the Florida branches of the government. If Florida was allowed to continue as originally planned, Hillary would have won and the march to her primary win would be different. If Obama wins the primary and loses the general election the super delegates including Mr. McGovern should be held accountable.

Whenever I hear a person talk about how bad government is, I can bet the next thing out of their mouths is politicians are taxing us to death. I can only wish to send them to Oconto, WI. A sleepy little town just north of our Green Bay.
Not to long ago several of the classmates of the Oconto highschool got together at a class reunion. All were successful in their respected fields. They were all concerned of the disappointing out come of the community they grew up in. They decided to volunteer their skills as well as their assets, to put to good use to organize, develope and plan advancements for the town that they all loved. After constructing the plans with funding offers, they presented it to the Mayor. They were turned down, with the reply, " We like our town just the way it is. We don't want to change a thing!" And guess what? They are reaching that goal, barely! If you set you goals low you may reach it. The problem is you don't invest in your future, you are not likely to receive a return!
I have seen the Republicans so afraid to invest in our futures, they stall progress in our Green Bay. Over the years we have watched a Green Bay's downtown move to Ashwaubenan. We watch the coal piles grow, not only in downtown but now at the mouth of our river as well. Soon any new construction downtown will will match with the old buildings with a dull black finish. Don't we want to invest to fix that problem? We don't want to invest in police dogs. I guess we want to give the drug dealers a chance! We want to force the city workers to take days off with no pay to compensate the $6 million Prange Way building debacale. Heaven forbid, we don't want to spend moneies to have attorneys over see million dollar deals!
Can we see a future of forsight or blight? Will our children see city they can be proud of or will they move away to a city that did invest in it's future? Will we be a pearl on the beautiful fox river, or will we continue to be the dusty black city on the dirty brown river that flows through it. Will we choose to invest in new schools and invest in our old schools so that more than 48% of our children go on to college. Can you imagine having more than 50% of our children able to compete in the global marketplace? Would it be to much of our politicians and it's citizens to step back and say, "We can make Green Bay's future better than today!" We have the quality, skilled and proud people to do the job. But do we have the will?

Politics is local and so I believe the place to start fixing our global problem is in our county! I feel a place to start is regulating the construction of all new subdivisions. Arizona has been the first to implement this thought process. Geo thermal heating and cooling can be implemented by all the new homes sharing a geo thermal network in the ground under a playground that is a part of the shared expense in the subdivision. All homes heat up from and cool down from the heat transfer fom the earths constant 55 degrees below the frost line. Our government solar research center says individual electric solar units on the roofs cost around $35k to install per home and with government breaks it will cost $17k. Over the life of the mortgage its $60 a month. In most cases the units produce more than the home owners can use.
The fox river has a dam in DePere. With little long term investment new high effieciency hydro electic generators should be used and added.
A law should be passed that all new municipal and school buses purchased must be Hydrogen powered. This would force hydrogen fuel stations to be available for personal vehicles as well. Honda Hydrogen cars are coming out in 2009. Shell oil has set this up in Iceland, Amsterdam, Washington,DC and most recently it set up 23 stations in California.
We need to make deals with Door county and other counties along the lake Michigan to install wave generators in the lake and the Green Bay. This technology is under construction in Oregon. Their governor has proposed to be #1 in the nation with wave generated electricity.
We need to Increase the wind powered generators in our county. This could be helped by extra efforts to expidite government approval procedures.
A thourough investigation and study of traffic patterns in our county to understand if public tram systems might be effective in our metro areas. Also a better network of bike and segway trails should be implemented throughout the metro areas.
Our cities need to adopt the William Clinton global warming intiative already adopted by 40 of the largest cities on the globe and supported by large corporations like GE. Energy savings realized will shrink our carbon footprint and make big dents in our oil and coal usage.
We need to examine the methane sources from dumps and human waste plants. New bacterias have been found to increase the gas productions by simple introduction into these areas.
We ned to expand the 2 nuclear plants and eliminate the coal burning electrical generation plant at the mouth of the Fox river.
As our population continues to grow at a rapid rate, it is imparative to start now. I am extremely dissatisfied at the ineffective political efforts I have observed in this area to make it all this happen. Politicians like the Californian gov. and recently our governor are waking up to the reality of the Green Tech economic boost that Europe has seen.
Please from the bottom of my heart and my daughters future, can we make this happen?
