Brett keeps appearing in the news and making it look like his old team is at fault and he can not trust them or what they say. I do not remember him mentioning that he was talking to his old pal in Minn during the interview on Fox. Wether the guy is a friend or not it was agianst the league rules and a 15 year vet would know that. This could cost his pals team a draft choice if the league confirms it. Also he should put up or shut up. File the correct paperwork and ask to come out of retirement. It is the first step. When the rumor broke Thompson said only that on TV for days. All the rest came from the media and Brett's camp.
I know Brett is a great QB and I would also like to see him play again. Packer or not, but we all live with rules and we must conform no matter how good we are. If this was Thompson that had retired and wanted to come back the fans and everyone else would also have different comments. Imagine if you retired from your job and then after 6 months wanted to come back. How many would get the job back after not following procedure and them bad mouthing the employer? Not one I would suspect.
Fans can sometimes only hear what they want to. There is no dicussion that Brett is one of the greatest QB of all time. I had many years of fun watching him pull off his majic. But in this case Brett retired for whatever reason. Now he wants to come back as the starter. Many say the Packers need to let him because it is the right thing to do. Did you all forget how he held off intil just before training camp to tell the Packers he was coming back. The Packer have said Rogers is the starter. If they give the starting job back to Farve does not that make the Packers word no longer good. I think if Brett is in the shape he claims and is ready to play at his old level he should take the backup job and then smoke Rogers in practice. The Packers will always play the best player. Rogers can not complain if Brett beats him out. That's the way it works. This whole controversy is due to a conflict between Brett's ego and the desire for Thompson to be the boss. If Brett was truly serious about coming back why has he not filed the correct paperwork? The Packers tried to stay quiet but the media and Brett forced the issue. There can no longer be any winners in this situation as I see it.
