From ESPN.com...
"I do care deeply about the fans and I think anybody who has been to training camp and sees I'm a lot of times the last one out signing autographs sees I care about the fans, I care about their opinions," Rodgers told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "Everybody wants the fans to care for them and to pull for them and I am no different."
"The biggest disappointment in this whole thing is if anybody is offended by the stuff I say, because I think that my track record pretty much speaks for itself in the way I feel about the fans. I don't want the wrong message to come out of this."
I honestly think his "keep their mouths shut" comment wasn't meant to be as harsh as it sounded. I think what he meant was that if Packer fans are going to continue to dwell on the past (ie. Favre) and not support or accept him as the quarterback of the Packers then he doesn't want to hear about it anymore. He IS the Packer's quarterback now and he just wants to start being treated that way.
I had the opportunity to talk to Aaron Rodgers this past December after the Cowboy game and I did get the feeling that he may be a little frustrated about fans not supporting him the way he would want. It's hard being in someone's shadow for so long especially a player like Brett Favre. Brett Favre will never be forgotten but I feel like Rodgers probably just wants the opportunity to be taken seriously as a quarterback and not have to discuss the past anymore. I'm sure he wants to move on and focus on the future now with his team.
After listening to Rodgers, while in the audience of a taping of Locker Room Live, I feel more confident that he is knowlegable and will be a great NFL quarterback when finally given his chance. Some question his durability but I am not worried. The Packers see something in Aaron and, as hard as it may be for some of us, we need to look to the future and support him now, like we did Favre, through the good times and the bad times.

Hello! I have lived in Green Bay for over 15 years. I am working on my degree in Communications. I have a Video Production internship this fall and am excited to learn more about my passion. I enjoy bowling, watching movies, and if you haven't guessed already I am a big Packer fan. I try to update my blogs when I can but usually it is only when I feel something is worthy to blog. I hope my Newsroom blog will be different. Thanks for reading and have a great day!
