Okay at this point here's my Favre solution...
I'm getting tired of unhappy people on either side of this issue so let's just vote!
If Packer fans are truly the owners of the Green Bay Packers' team let's just go to our respective poll locations in Brown County and vote Favre, Rodgers or a write in quarterback. Then depending on who gets the majority that is who will be the starter and the other will be the backup.
There! Simple enough right? No hurt feelings. The fans have spoken! If certain fans don't care then they don't vote.
Honestly I'm sick of the finger pointing here. Yes, I think the situation could have been handled better from both sides but come on now I hope you fans are this passionate and rally behind more important national or world causes too.
I enjoyed watching Brett Favre play and I think he's a great player (if not the best) BUT eventually we have to move on. Favre isn't going to be playing forever. It's not like he's going to be playing when he's 50!

Weather
During flooding or other severe conditions should we expect weather reporters to pronounce the areas correctly? Local weather reporters are usually good about it but when listening to the Weather Channel or other major news sources it tends to be another story which bothers me.
Yes, accents are different in other areas of the country, but if danger is coming my way, and I am lucky enough to be following the weather at that moment, it would be nice to properly hear where the danger is instead of guessing if that is my area or not. Sometimes they zoom in so closely on areas that, unless you are familiar with that state, you wouldn't have a clue where they were talking about. I would think that while working in a news position, whether it is radio or television, the talent would receive a pronunciation note as to how to say a certain word. If they had confusion they should talk to someone before they go on the air.
Maybe I am making a mountain out of a mole hole here, especially because I was told recently I was saying Milwaukee wrong haha BUT, again, it bothers me because I want to know for sure whether or not danger is coming my way.

From ESPN.com...
"I do care deeply about the fans and I think anybody who has been to training camp and sees I'm a lot of times the last one out signing autographs sees I care about the fans, I care about their opinions," Rodgers told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "Everybody wants the fans to care for them and to pull for them and I am no different."
"The biggest disappointment in this whole thing is if anybody is offended by the stuff I say, because I think that my track record pretty much speaks for itself in the way I feel about the fans. I don't want the wrong message to come out of this."
I can understand why many fans are outraged by his comments (I was a little surprised myself) but he did clarify/apologize for his comment about fans "keeping their mouths shut."
I honestly think his "keep their mouths shut" comment wasn't meant to be as harsh as it sounded. I think what he meant was that if Packer fans are going to continue to dwell on the past (ie. Favre) and not support or accept him as the quarterback of the Packers then he doesn't want to hear about it anymore. He IS the Packer's quarterback now and he just wants to start being treated that way.
I had the opportunity to talk to Aaron Rodgers this past December after the Cowboy game and I did get the feeling that he may be a little frustrated about fans not supporting him the way he would want. It's hard being in someone's shadow for so long especially a player like Brett Favre. Brett Favre will never be forgotten but I feel like Rodgers probably just wants the opportunity to be taken seriously as a quarterback and not have to discuss the past anymore. I'm sure he wants to move on and focus on the future now with his team.
After listening to Rodgers, while in the audience of a taping of Locker Room Live, I feel more confident that he is knowlegable and will be a great NFL quarterback when finally given his chance. Some question his durability but I am not worried. The Packers see something in Aaron and, as hard as it may be for some of us, we need to look to the future and support him now, like we did Favre, through the good times and the bad times.

When my friend and I planned on hanging out Tuesday night I never would've imagined that we would be meeting at a tragic crash scene at the intersection of Willard Drive and S. Oneida Street in Green Bay. We had planned on meeting for coffee at Starbucks in Barnes and Noble but he called me to warn me of the accident along the way. I cautiously passed by the scene, parked and walked over to meet him. The police had lit up the area and the firefighters, police, and other individuals were still working at the scene piecing together what had happened. I was surprised by how many other spectators were there along with the news crews.
I had never seen anything like it before in my life. Maybe in the movies or on television but being there at the scene live with the crime scene tape, broken glass, damaged traffic light, two cars smashed into each other and knowing that two young women didn't survive was surreal. Honestly, it's hard to put into words. Overall, it made me realize many things but one being the reality of life and how 1 split second decision can affect so many. I hope drivers will learn from this fatal crash and hopefully this can be avoided in the future. They were still so young...
My prayers go out to the families of Ashley Britsch-Knetzger and Talhia Heroux. No words can really comfort you, I know. But please know that the community's prayers and wishes will always be with you.

I remember when I was a little girl I owned a couple New Kids on the Block cassette tapes and other fan merchandise like pins, watches...etc. I was too little to go to concerts but I remember the excitement of watching a VHS taped concert on the TV.
The other day I heard that the New Kids on the Block are back together after all these years (14 to be exact) and plan on going on tour and having a new album out soon. WOW! I feel old now. I'm tempted to go to their concert in Illinois this fall since this was something I couldn't do when I was younger. It's also amusing that when I was younger I didn't really understand the lyrics until years later. It's strange what children listen to without really knowing what they are singing.
I'm curious if the New Kids on the Block will be promoted as NKOTB like they used to or if they'll now be "Old Adults on the Block" or what. Haha. Either way it goes to show that as long as you have an audience any group can make a comeback. How successful it will be will be another story but I have a feeling the New Kids on the Block will do well.

This morning I heard this news story about this woman who works at Espresso Gone Wild. The employee reported harassment after a man in the drive thru took photos of her even though she told him he couldn't. She filed a police report and they are investigating the situation.
This story is disturbing on many levels. Who decided that modesty doesn't make money? Honestly, in my opinion, you must be a pretty bad business owner if your solution to your Starbucks competition is having scantily clad employees. There is no other solution? What about excellent customer service? What about a nice, clean sitting area or bathroom? What about a specialty coffee drink? What about coffee cake or other food?...you get my point.
"Girls Gone Wild" why has that become so popular and acceptable? Whether it is those videos or these coffee places why are people accepting this as okay? If the majority of this country took a stand on modesty I guarantee this American culture would be better and eventually less sex obsessed.

The `Newborn Screening Saves Lives Act of 2007' S.1858 just got passed this week by both the Senate and the House of Representatives and we must all hope that it is vetoed by President Bush.
This act is a wolf in sheep's clothing. The name of the act itself sounds great but if this act goes through it will be an invasion of your DNA property rights. The bill also violates research ethics and the Nuremberg Code.
According to Twila Brase, the President of Citizens' Council on Health Care, "Already, in Minnesota, the state health department reports that 42,210 children of the 780,000 whose DNA is housed in the Minnesota "DNA warehouse" have been subjected to genetic research without their parent's knowledge or consent."
Where I can understand why they would want to screen newborns (or adults) for certain hereditable disorders this could lead to trouble in the future. Once they have access to your DNA and the power to do what they want with it who knows what could happen? Will your insurance claims be declined because, according to your genes, you might have this pre-existing condition? Will you get denied a job because, according to your genes, you might have physical, emotional, or other problem? It's not like you can appeal it because your genes don't lie. Or do they? Oh and did I mention that this DNA databank will be available online? I am nervous about hackers as it is now my DNA or my future children's DNA will be out there on the Internet. Hmm...
The bill also mentions the benefit of counseling or other educational opportunities which is a good idea. Researchers may not be able to find cures without it. But can't they do that with the consent of the parents or person instead of just deciding they are going to take the sample, put it in their DNA databank and do what they wish.
A person's DNA should be their DNA. So where I can't say that nothing good has ever come from studying DNA we are coming to the point where we may be crossing the line soon.
I joke sometimes that won't it be nice to have a baby come with an instruction manual and, you know if bills like these pass maybe that will become a reality someday. Your baby could be screened and the doctors could tell you from day one that you should do certain things for your baby so that certain heritable disorders might not occur. Where's the fun and mystery in that? Can't we just lead our lives and if something happens then we'll deal with it when it happens.
Don't get me wrong, again, humans have done great things to expand their life expectancy using DNA and other methods and I'm grateful for that BUT this bill is not the answer. They need to re-write and/or re-think this bill.
Contact President Bush if you have concerns and make sure bill S. 1858 doesn't get signed.

Reflecting on Brett Favre's retirement for a few days and finally viewing his Retirement P.C, I initially felt I should blog about how he's been the QB ever since I moved to GB, about how I remembered my Grandma's excitement watching #4 play...etc. I could go on with details like that (especially about my Grandma) but, I decided, as I was watching his P.C, of some jobs he could do after being a Green Bay Packer for so long.
I definitely agree that taking a year or so off would be a nice change but after that, here are some ideas I thought of when he's tired of doing "nothing." I know some jobs I listed are more realistic than others but you never know... ;-)
#1 Husband/Father/Son...
Brett Favre Fourward Foundation creator/fundraiser
Restaurant chain owner
Special Ed teacher
High school Assistant football coach
Author
Inspirational Speaker
Voiceover actor :-)
Salesman
Print Ad model (department store, sports, ???)
How to Hunt/Golf video host
"Dancing with the Stars" contestant :-D

Maybe I am naive on this issue but I just don't understand how so many people I know feel so comfortable criticizing President Bush (or the government in general). Yes, I know they have the right to, with freedom of speech and all, but don't they also have the freedom to suppress their opinions too? I admit, I don't follow politics and the news as closely as I probably should sometimes but, to me, it seems so anti-patriotic to be so critical of our President and government. Is the government perfect? No. Has President Bush done everything right in his terms in office? No. Has any president for that matter done everything right in his term? Probably not. But when we elect a president we all should acknowledge that he is human and won't be perfect nor will the government be absolutely perfect during or after his term.
The problem with having a democracy sometimes and having everyone (who's eligible) vote is that in the end the majority will be happy and the minority will not, wishing their candidate won instead. Then we, as Americans, unite again to become the United States of America having some citizens still criticizing this and that among each other. Honestly, unless those citizens are proactive and contact the proper people to voice their concerns, like the government allows them to, they should be proud to be American and try to suppress their negative feelings. It doesn't help anyone to just complain about something (especially if it is incorrect information and/or taken out of context). If things are that bothersome then do something about it. At least by being proactive if it still doesn't work out or it takes a while then at least you tried. I'm proud to be American and our government continues to do some great things. So, the United States of America and its government may not be perfect but nothing ever is really. We must look to the positives and do our best to change or accept the negatives. In this historic election, I am curious to know how Americans vote this November and to see what the future holds for the United States of America. I see great things...

Over the years I feel like I have done many things with good intentions. Some things I know were truly good, like my many hours volunteering, and other things I'm sure I did with good intentions but they probably didn't end up the way I hoped. Whether it was just due to a poor decision or poor time management these things happen to everyone I guess.
Lately, I feel like, again, I try to do things with good intentions, but in the back of my mind I question if it is truly good or not. I second guess myself. I want to learn from past mistakes but sometimes I wonder if I dwell too much on them.
I have a great opportunity to volunteer to help out on campus and gain valuable experience in a field I want to eventually go in, BUT again, even though I am doing this with good intentions will it blow up in my face in the end? I told myself going into this new volunteer venture that I wouldn't overdo it but when it comes down to it can I trust myself? When it comes to priorities will I be able to focus on my studies and not be caught up with this new, fun, volunteer opportunity that I am interested in pursuing as a career someday?
I think I can handle it. I have matured the past few years but I guess what bothers me most is that I question myself and my actions. Don't get me wrong, this is a good quality to have, I mean it's better than having no self control and stuff but it can shake your confidence.
Anyway, I have some decisions to make I guess on how much I want to commit to this volunteer group. It'll be around for a while if I'm not involved this second. I just need to prayfully think about it and see what God has planned for me.
I just feel that sometimes writing down your thoughts helps and in this case, although no answers were really found, I feel better.
Thanks for reading...

Here's a fact I found that I'm not sure if anyone knew...
The Giant's kicker who prevented the Packers from going to the Super Bowl was Lawrence Tynes and Deanna Favre's maiden name was Tynes. I found that interesting.

Although Wisconsinites are probably better at driving in the cold, ice, and snow, they still need to make sure they drive for the conditions. It may be annoying at the time but it will be better for you and the other drivers in the end.
I know two people, who I feel are good drivers, who got in accidents this week and I KNOW they are not the only ones. It's scary because, although it could've been much worse for them, in general accidents can be life changing. Whether it is the extra cost of car repair, higher insurance rates, or even taking pain medications, if accidents can be avoided by driving slower and stopping sooner then it's safer in the end.
So as my title states: "Please go SLOW in the SNOW!" :-)
