Hey everyone... Rick Dickert here from La-La land. Yep, I am a Socal boy, born and raised. I work as a helicopter reporter and meteorologist for KTTV (the FOX station) in Los Angeles. I love what I do. I grew up surfing the shores of my home town Redondo Beach (just sw of L.A.). I love the ocean, the mountains and the air. From a young age I knew that I wanted to be a T.V. weatherman and I am living my dream right in my home city.

So... I am sure from my description above you are thinking... ok, here comes an ultra liberal green guy. Well, not really...

Bottom line... I love all aspects of the environment and think we should do whatever possible to protect it.

So I am in my News Director's Office earlier this week discussing this new blog and the topics and we come across the "Grist" thing. I am like...what the???

I had no idea what Grist was and who reads it... So I log on and check it out. Good stuff! Very entertaining and insightful info on our fragile environment. My answer... It looks like A LOT of people read it Check it out and me know what you think! (grist.org).
