Wow.  A company cell phone.  Really?  So, is this just a conspiracy theorists favorite development, or what?  With the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reporting that Favre used a Packers cell phone to call the Vikings to see if they wanted him to play for them (allegedly...) you have to wonder if this was on purpose.  If not, you have to wonder where Favre's head and sense of propriety are.

Either Brett didn't care he was using Packers property to make phone calls against the league rules (arrogant), or he didn't know it was against the rules (ignorant) or he knew and was trying to get the Vikings in trouble (curious).

No matter which it is, it is one of the most shocking developments of the entire saga in my mind.  Perhaps this was just an "I'm Brett Favre!" moment, where consequences weren't considered, he was just looking out for number four.  Most likely he was trying to be furtive, but never once thought where the bill for the phone he had in his hand went, since I'm sure he doesn't see any other bills either, and may not live in the world you and I do where we actually look at things before we have to pay them.

How does this change your view of the situation, if indeed he was checking on iterest before even asking the Packers for his release?  Let me know!

If Favre was checking on interest before asking for a release from the Packers it does change my view somewhat. It makes me wonder if Favre really wanted to play for the Packers or even worse if when he retired he wasn't sure about retirement but was pretty sure he didn't want to play in Green Bay. I'm a huge Favre fan but some of these recent developments have made me question his character or at least his actions. I'm starting to wonder if perhaps I've been a bit harsh when it comes to Packers management. Oh, and what is the "retired" guy doing with a Packers cell phone? If I were retired from a company I'm pretty sure I would not still have access to perks like a company paid cell phone.

No, he was not checking on other interest of course the media and Drew Smith are going to blow this out of proportion. I don't understand what you have against Favre too, I figured you would be providing kind of a balanced stance on this situation but every blog you have written so far is just totally against Favre. I hope you know your probably losing a few viewers because this is Wisconsin and a lot of people are still on Brett's side.

P.S.-interest

See, that is what I thought. First off I heard....heard I say, that the Vikings called Brett, not the other way around. And as to the conversation....where is the proof in that. And yes, Drew, you have your opinions....you should probably have considered putting your opinions under a false name (ignorant)....how immature we need to fall to name calling and how disrespectful. I cant believe the so called professional have been taught that this is ok.I think it time to sit aside and let it unravel as it will.

I don't blame Favre if he did talk to Vikings. After, all Brett did for our Packer's to be treated the way he was ,disgusting. Oooops the release of his retirement days, before Brett made the announcement. Front office was forcing his hand.Maybe he just wanted to see if anyone, thought he was good enough to guide their team. If Aaron Rodgers gets hurt, who do we have as a back-up? Rookies!!! Offered Culpepper $$$$ This is the best interest of the Green Bay Packer's,front office? Best of luck,Brett!!!!!
