I don't understand why all you report about is just the reserve units that go to war. My son is in the Air Force and completed one tour in Iraq and is going back in a couple of weeks for a second tour. When he came home their was no news people at the air port no newspaper reporters or supporters, nothing but his mom and brother, sister and grandmother. When he left it was the same. Their are more then just reservists that are fighting over their part time. My son is in it for the long haul. He even reenlisted on 9/11/07. Where is the fan fair for the rest of our troops?  My future son in law is getting shipped out next week as well and he is in the Marines.  Start reporting about all our kids and not just the ones that make a big deal about going over. They get to lead their lives and get paid by the government until they are needed.  Then they come home and get their jobs back. My sons job is with the Air Force every day. He did not even get to come home for his beloved Grand fathers funeral. You also report about the two parents in the reserves that both get the call. Poor things they got kids. Then give the money back if you are not going to fulfill you obligation. You knew the risk when you signed up and accepted the  money  for doing this job. Yes I feel sorry about everyone going over their, but report fairly about all the kids not just the reservists.                .

I agree. My husband is active duty Coast Guard and it frustrates me when reservists complain because they have to go overseas. Too many people are signing up for the free college money and not understanding what the full commitment is. My husband has been in for 10 years and will be in until he can retire. We have been apart from him for 18 months now because of a medical issue. The kids and I got medically returned last february because of MRSA infections we kept getting while we were stationed in Hawaii. Active duty members definitely do not get the credit they deserve and the same recognition as reservists. The active duty do it day in and day out full time. On Sept. 11th we could see the World Trade Centers burning from our bedroom window. We were stationed in New Jersey at the time. Do people realize what the active duty people go through and their families also? Moving every 2-4 years, living apart alot, and making this commitment their full time job. My husband may not be in Iraq right now but who knows what the future holds. We are still apart and will be for another year and even after that it's not like he will be home eveyr night. Say thank you to your son and future son-in-law. Our active duty members need the thanks and praise that the reservists get too. Unfortunately WI does not have nearly as many active duty members as other states. I miss having other active duty families around.
